Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games
I know many are excited over the Olympics games now happening in Tokyo.
But did you know that the Paralympics will also be held in Tokyo right after the current Olympics - from 24 Aug to 5 Sept 2021?
The Paralympic Games are a multi-sport event for athletes with physical, mental and sensorial disabilities.
Singapore will be sending 10 para-athletes to Tokyo this time.
I met 2 of them, national swimmer Yip Pin Xiu and equestrian Maximillian Tan Chern today; them being part of The Purple Parade committee.
The Purple Parade is an annual gathering of thousands of individuals and corporates - to support inclusion and celebrate the abilities of persons with special needs /disabilities.
Our PP committee of 42 was so excited to hear from PX and Max, their travel and training plans.
We will be rooting for them and their Paralympic teammates - para-archer Nur Syahidah Alim, equestrians Laurentia Tan, Gemma Foo, para-archer Nur Syahidah Alim, shot putter Muhammad Diroy Noordin and Games debutants Steve Tee (cycling), Toh Wei Soong and Sophie Soon (both swimming).
Be sure to join in and support them in the coming Tokyo games!
