NLB Annual Staff Gathering

IS NLB ONE OF THE MOST INCLUSIVE LIBRARY EMPLOYERS IN THE WORLD? MOST LIKELY!

Our Singapore National Library Board has been effectively employing staff on the autism spectrum since 2013.

Ex-CE Elaine Ng and current CE Ng Cher Pong and their teams had been painstakingly embarking on this process of inclusive hiring and development for several years now - in areas like digital archiving, cataloguing, shelving, etc.

Working with disability charities such as ARC, they overcame all initial challenges. They started a systemic and systematic process to assess, job match, job train, and job coach the team - quite a feat.

Here’re some photos of the annual staff gathering - all differently-abled staff - hosted by Cher Pong, the NLB CEO himself - no less.

What a meaningful LNY gathering!

I told Cher Pong he and the team should share the experience in the global library community so more of this can happen.

Big thanks and kudos to the teams from the National Libary Board and Autism Resource Centre Singapore.
