NSC N105 Project
I’m not engineering trained, but I know enough to say today is an engineering and construction achievement to be celebrated.
Finally, good news for residents between Novena Rise and Suffolk Walk areas - the tough 24-hour diaphragm wall construction works of the North-South Corridor (NSC) are completed!
Two major milestones by the work teams were celebrated today:
The N105 Project Team completed the road tunnel diaphragm wall construction below Thomson Road. No more 24-hour noise.
The team achieved 8.37 million safe man-hours with no injuries. A remarkable feat!
The NSC N105 Project is challenging, involving construction along the densely built-up area on both sides of Thomson Road, between Novena Rise and Suffolk Walk. It also required multiple stages of diversion of the major road at the heart of Novena and working above and below the existing operating North-South Line MRT tunnels.
With the completion of the diaphragm wall construction, the next stage of works will be mostly underground below Thomson Road. With the next stage of traffic diversion, the road alignment will be stabilised for the next few years. Other inconveniences and disamenities associated with the construction works will be significantly reduced for the next stage.
Thank you to our residents for the support given to this project and for enduring the inconveniences faced earlier. The LTA and contractor teams also reminded me to extend a big thanks to you!
Thank you too to LTA, PBJV, and all the engineers and workers for all the hard work you put in. The work is still not over for NSC, but the benefits of smoother traffic and car-lite conditions will be enjoyed by residents in time!
