A Note to Kampong Glam Residents : COVID-19

Dear Kampong Glam Residents,

Let me inform you of another fellow resident who was confirmed to have COVID-19. She lives in the Crawford vicinity.

A non-Singaporean, she is now warded in an isolation room at NCID. As she was linked to a cluster elsewhere, she was placed under quarantine on 9 March in a government quarantine facility.

We’ve activated the Jalan Besar Town Council team to do a thorough cleaning of the blocks and common areas. I had much earlier arranged for hand sanitizer to be placed in each block there for everyone to use. Your RC is aware and helping out too.

I seek your support to together keep our estate clean and safe. The estate cleaners have more than doubled their efforts. Some residents even volunteered to clean the public areas such as elderly exercise areas and children playgrounds. Some kindly alerted the RC when the lift hand sanitizer disappeared or are used up.

I am deeply touched by this Kampong and generous spirit. Thank you!

Meanwhile, keep safe and healthy. The doctors say personal hygiene habits like regular hand washing are useful in fighting off COVID-19. See a doctor if you are unwell. Avoid non-essential travels.

Daily updates and advices are at https://www.moh.gov.sg/news-highlights. I will also keep you posted on news directly affecting us.

These are tough times for Singapore and the rest of the world. No one is sure how long this will last. But if we stand united and look out for one another, we will be well in the end. This is our Singapore spirit. We are #strongertogether.

Keep well everyone.
