One thing the CDCs do is to aggregate needs of residents in the district; then find additional ways to complement government and other ground efforts.
For example, we know for a fact that students from lower-income households do not have as much enrichment activities as others. Hence, the beginning of the Central Singapore CDC’s weekly Nurture communications and problem solving classes, and the holiday Digital Bootcamps.
Also, we found that families need to spend more before a school year begins and we started the ‘Ready for School’ vouchers for their school-going kids.
These blessings are only as large as the resources my CDC team and I as Mayor can find. Hence, I’m always grateful to my steadfast partners like Far East Organization, StarHub and UOB who have been working with my CDC, helping our kids in this space.
