Kampong Glam Education Awards Presentation Ceremonies

It was such a joy to meet so many students at eight rounds of Education Merit Awards ceremonies this weekend. Despite the rain, many turned up.

I shared the true story of 1992 Olympian Derek Redmond’s feat of never quitting during his 400m sprint. He tore his hamstring but hobbled all the way to the finishing line with the support of his father.

Redmond may have finished last in place but he won the hearts of not only the 65,000 crowd that day; and many more till today. What mattered was he never quitted and he finished his race.

A good reminder for me.

May each of us find the race purposed for us, and complete it, come what may.
