Little India Deepavali Street Light Up
Enjoy the Little India Deepavali Street Light Up (but watch the distance)
Happy to be a part of the Little India Deepavali Street Light Up today.
Together with Ministers Tan See Leng, Indranee Rajah and MOS Alvin Tan, I joined a simple but colourful ceremony to launch the light up. This year we all agreed not to have a post-launch gathering involving a larger group of partners and sponsors whom we still dearly honour.
The Deepavali festivities have always been a key highlight in Jalan Besar each year. Not even COVID-19 can dim the lights and the spirit of the organisers. Kudos to them.
The Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA) has planned a series of exciting hybrid events to commemorate the festival, such as a virtual Deepavali Karaoke Challenge and online cooking masterclasses. So do support them.
STB has advised visitors to visit Little India during off-peak hours to prevent crowding.
Do enjoy the festivities but don’t forget to do it wisely and keep our friends and family safe as we celebrate Deepavali this year.
Happy Deepavali (in advance)!
