"Place-Making" Discussion with Stakeholders of Kampong Glam's Conservation Area

I joined a spirited URA-led “place-making” discussion with stakeholders of Kampong Glam’s Conservation Area (think Arab Street, Haji Lane, Sultan Mosque…think F&B, traditional perfumeries, textile and carpet merchants, Malay heritage, Hari Raya bazaar… ). MOS Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim is the MND-appointed lead.
We had a lively discussion - interesting though not easy because the needs can be different - all sincerely want to ensure the cove remains a vibrant memorable place with a rich culture, heritage, and enterprise.
Here’s Mr Patail, chair of Sultan Mosque Board of Trustees and calling in from overseas, Mr Saeid Labbafi who chairs One Kampong Gelam (OKG), a KG biz alliance. Both have become my friends over the years and I’ve learnt a lot from them.
Although a Monday morning, everyone who participated, contributed. Thank you!
