For our residents, the CDCs launched Law Awareness Weeks @ CDC 2022 (aka LAW@CDC 2022), an annual offering with Law Society.

This year’s theme is aptly “Staying Cybersafe - Protecting yourself and the Community”.

Like you, I’ve received spam messages and seen many online advertisements that seem very believable. Even though we know it’s too good to be true, some residents have fallen prey to such content.

Our elderly residents and vulnerable in the community are especially at risk. One resident who came to see me lost all his life savings through a bank scam.

Hence I am so thankful for CDC’s partnership with the Law Society Pro Bono Services, and new partners, the National Crime Prevention Council and National University of Singapore.

With their continued support and efforts, more residents - both the young and old - can be equipped with knowledge on staying cybersafe.

Not only that, the free legal talks now offered online and on-site include our staple topics such as divorces, end-of-life and estate planning, etc.
