The Purple Symphony @ The Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House
Proud moment last evening for me and many Singaporeans too I think (if you were there).
It was a magical musical night at Johor Bahru last night watching The Purple Symphony musicians perform at the invitation of Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, gracious wife of Sultan of Johor , Singapore’s important neighbour.
The Purple Symphony is delighted and honoured to perform, for the first time, in Malaysia; and no less at a world-class venue, the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House!
As Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra comprising more than 100 musicians with and without special needs, The Purple Symphony’s journey has been a meaningful one.
It was started almost 10 years ago by our CDC and music gurus like Quek Ling Kiong, with a dream of using music as a platform to showcase inclusion and differently abled talents.
There are several amazing partners who have made this adventure in Johor Malaysia possible.
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor Foundation, and the many distinguished Malaysian friends at the concert.
Our musicians especially enjoyed their joint performance with the prestigious Sekolah Seni Malaysia Johor.
Very thankful to Ms Ho Ching and the Temasek Foundation team who have been supporting The Purple Symphony in word and deed for many years.
So proud of the musicians who never let what they cannot do, stop them from doing what they can!
And big to the families, coaches, music buddies and staff from the 2 Foundations and CDC who made it happen on the ground!
