The Giraffe Movement with SAJC
PEOPLE OF CENTRAL SINGAPORE - there’s a very special Junior College in Central Singapore where my CDC and I serve.
Our CDC partner, St Andrew's Junior College leaders, staff and students make it a school habit EVERY NATIONAL DAY Eve to move out of its school walls to serve others and to encourage others to serve!
Year 2 seniors donned Giraffe suits and campaigned on the streets to ask strangers to ‘stick their necks out for the common good’. We call this the ‘Giraffe Movement’
Year 1 juniors simply got out in droves and simply serve. Amongst others, they tap on our CDC’s Silver Homes package and spring clean homes for seniors in rental flats in Central.
I love it that the Principal and the entire school had consistently stuck to this signature practice - an integral part of its DNA now.
To me, the education buff, serving must surely be part of a good education.
