Blessing Residents with SMOU @ Jalan Besar

At 103 years old, Mdm Teo is one of my oldest residents at Jalan Besar!

I visited her with our dear volunteers from SMOU or Singapore Maritime Officers Union who is one of the most steadfast community partners in my ward.

Mdm Teo is looked after by her 83-year-old daughter, who is her only caregiver. They used to join many activities at the Jalan Besar Active Ageing Centre downstairs until she fell ill a few months back. They still receive active support from the AAC.

We brought them lunch and bag of goodies from the Union, as they couldn't come downstairs to eat the buffet or join the lantern making class given by the unionists.

Thank you SMOU for always remembering our precious seniors in our midst.

Singapore is moving in the right direction creating the vast network of centres and rallying the whole of society to ensure our seniors are physically, socially and emotionally engaged.
