My favourite animal is the giraffe—and for a good reason (hint: long neck!).
Yesterday, my CDC team and I launched the “GiraffeSG@Central” initiative to encourage our entire district to stick their necks out for the common good.
This was witnessed by more than 200 of our Central CDC’s partners at the District Meeting, where I shared about the CDC’s role and work as a Regional Office.
The “GiraffeSG@Central” initiative aims to foster a community where everyone contributes to building a more caring and forward-looking Singapore as we celebrate SG60. This will be achieved through a three-pronged approach:
“GiraffeSG Campaign”: Residents can look forward to GiraffeSG art installations across Central's community spaces, along with links to volunteering and donation opportunities.
“GiraffeSG Do-Good Grant”: A new grant to support youth, specifically IHL and JC students, in their efforts to make a difference.
“GiraffeSG Heroes”: A programme recognising individuals and organisations that champion doing good in the community.
No current or new initiatives can happen without our partners and individual volunteers. Across 2023 and 2024, over 900 partners and 25,000 volunteers joined us in many of our programmes—thank you!
I’m excited for the start of the campaign and look forward to joining hands with many of you through GiraffeSG@Central to build a district of giraffes!
Be a Giraffe: Stand tall, look out for others, and stick your necks out for the common good.
