Helping and Respecting our Community
Madam N, a cardboard collector in our kampong, is a familiar face to the social service agencies such as PEACEConnect, the SSO, Kampong Kapor Family Service Centre and active volunteer groups such as Mummy Yummy Singapore.
They know her well and have been supporting her for years, though she cannot be persuaded to give up her cardboard collection after doing this for 30 years.
They are, of course, uncomfortable when a video of her was taken and circulated without her permission or knowledge; hopefully, her daughter and grandchildren will not be affected.
Madam N may be familiar and known. But there may be other seniors or vulnerable folks who need the safety net but are not within the radar of the social service folks.
For all of them, shall we adopt the respectful and helpful habit of approaching the right agencies to help them?
